YouTube has long offered a way to purchase or rent content directly within the platform, but now it's bringing in other streaming services. The company announced on Tuesday that users will be able to sign up for its new Primetime Channels, which give users access to more than 30 channels that are available for purchase to enjoy.
The new feature will include a lot of different services in one place. If you're a subscriber to any of these services, you can binge-watch a show without leaving the app.
Users in the U.S. will be able to sign up for the feature via the Movies & TV Hub. The platform will allow users to manage all of their accounts.
If you've signed up for Primetime Channels, the new feature will be reflected in your overall experience on the video sharing site. It's easy to jump in when you see recommended shows and content from your Primetime Channels as you scroll through YouTube.
RECOMMENDED VIDEOS FOR YOU...
Users can find the content they've purchased through the search results, which will blend with content from Primetime channels. You can watch a show or movie and then watch a review or reaction to it.
Movie trailers, behind-the-scenes looks, and interviews will be presented on the Primetime Channels website.
It's not a new idea to offer access to other streaming services. Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV users have been able to access content from other streaming services on the respective platforms. Users will have more of a reason to stay on the platform if they are offered something like that.
The video streaming service will continue to refine Primetime Channels to "build new unique features" and to expand this new service to international users.
