According to Jeremy Fowler, Jackson was expected to be released by Washington if there was no trade.
Jackson is in the second year of his three year contract with Washington.
A back injury has limited him to four appearances this season. The Houston product has made 16 tackles.
According to Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero, Jackson was looking to join another team with a scheme that would better fit him.
The team made a decision to move on.
Jackson was placed in the "good players with boom- or-bust tendencies" tier by Pro Football Focus. The back injury limited his availability this year and he didn't play up to expectations.
