An attorney for the rapper confirmed that Takeoff, a member of the Atlanta-based hip-hop trio, died in a Houston shooting.

Takeoff was a brilliant musical artist with a unique kind and gentle soul. Drew Findling said in a statement that he will be missed.

The 28-year-old rapper, whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball, was shot and killed outside of a bowling alley while attending a private party.

Police found a man dead from a gunshot wound to the head or neck after responding to a shooting at a billiards and bowling establishment. There was a large crowd of people at the location when the shooting took place and two people were taken to hospitals.

The security guards heard the shooting but didn't see who did it. Arrests have not been made.

Takeoff was a member of the group. The rap group, founded in the Atlanta suburb of Lawrenceville in 2008, had four Top 10 hits on the chart, including a nomination for a grammy. They released a trilogy of top-charting albums.

Takeoff and Quavo released a new album without Offset. The husband of a rapper released a solo album.
