Two years ago, Ring announced it was going to launch a car alarm. An image of the device was recently added to the Ring app, as well as a filing with the FCC, according to a new report.

When Ring first revealed the device, it was a black brick-like device with a blue circle and Ring branding. The Ring alarm will connect to your car's diagnostic port and send notifications to your phone if it sees a break-in or a bumped car. It is supposed to come with a siren that can be triggered remotely and use Amazon's sidewalk network for internet access.

Ring doesn't know when it will launch its car alarm. Ring says it has a "car alarm system in the works" with a link to the announcement it initially made in 2020. The company said that it will be ready in the next year or so. If Ring agrees to a potential release window, we will update this article.

The company is said to be working on a $199.99 ring car cam. The dashboard-mounted device records both the inside and outside of the car, and can alert emergency services if you have been in a serious crash. Last year, The Tape Drive revealed an image of the device, and this year, Zatz Not Funny! uncovered a hidden support page that states that it could connect to your OBD-II port without a Ring subscription.
