Another victim has been claimed by the Colts'anemic offense.
The Colts relieved Marcus Brady of his duties on Tuesday, one week after benching veteran starting quarterback Matt Ryan.
Frank Reich said that he felt it was necessary to make the decision in the best interest of the team. Over the last five seasons Marcus made a significant contribution to our offensive success. I wish him good luck.
Nick Sirianni, who was an associate of Reich's and held the job before becoming the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, left in 2021.
After joining the Colts' staff as an assistant quarterbacks coach in 2018, Brady was promoted to quarterbacks coach in 2019.
The Colts have been one of the worst offensive teams in the league this season, with high hopes but poor performance. Indianapolis is 30th in points per game, 31st in offensive EPA and 16th in turnovers.
The failures of the team's once-vaunted offensive line has been stunning and the poor start to the season by Ryan was also shocking. Reich made the move to second year quarterback Sam Ehlinger last week because of the influence of owner Jim Irsay.
Reich's desire to elevate Brady last year was said to have had a positive effect on the team's offensive preparation.
Brady, a former record-setting quarterback at Cal State-Northridge, went on to play in the Canadian Football League. He went from backup quarterback to receiver's coach. Before coming to Indianapolis, Brady was the offensive coordinators in Montreal and Toronto.
