The Call of Duty franchise recovered from last year's flop with 800 million sell-through in the first three days of the new game.
The Call of Duty game had the highest-earning opening weekend in the franchise's history, according to the publisher.
Call of Duty is one of the most popular video games. Since the series began, the games have sold more than 400 million units. Last year's edition of Call of Duty struggled with negative reviews and competition from new entries.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 will be released on November 16th. The Warzone series may have attracted players away from the premium entries. It was reported in February that Call of Duty won't have an annual release in the foreseeable future, as the publisher plans to space out releases more.
antitrust regulators are concerned that Microsoft may make Call of Duty exclusive to its Xbox console, cutting it off from Sony Group Corp.'s PS3 console, which is why they are looking into the transaction.
