2 in the Associated Press college football poll Sunday to set up a No.

The 25th regular-season game matching the top two teams in the AP poll will be between Georgia and Tennessee. The two teams have never played in a 1-2 game.

Georgia received 30 first-place votes and 1,528 points to remain at the top.

The Volunteers received 18 first-place votes and 1500 points to move up a spot. Fifteen first-place votes went to the Buckeyes.

Tennessee trounced Kentucky 44-6 and Ohio State defeated Penn State 44-31.

Tennessee hasn't been ranked this high in a long time.

No. 4 Michigan, No. 5 Clemson, No. 6 Alabama, No. 7 TCU, and No. 8 Oregon were all ranked in the top 10. The Pac-12 has three teams in the top 10 for the first time in more than a year.

The College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Tuesday.

When they beat the second-ranked Tide in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on the way to an SEC and national championship, the Tigers were the top ranked team in the country.

The two SEC West rivals played again in the national championship game after the top-ranked Tigers defeated the second-ranked Tide in overtime. The Tide won the second match.

Including the playoffs, this will be the 53rd game matching AP's top and second ranked teams.

The Flames were ranked for eight weeks in 2020 and peaked at 17 in the final poll.

Oregon State is the newest Power 5 school to return to the rankings. The team had not been ranked since they were 25th in the preseason polls. They haven't been ranked in the regular season in four years.

It had been 13 years since Kansas was last ranked in the Power 5. Illinois moved into the rankings for the first time in four years.

Rutgers has been in the AP Top 25 for the longest period of time. The next place to be is the University of Tennessee. The Commodores haven't been ranked in two years.

The UCF is ranked for the first time in over a year.

Kentucky and South Carolina dropped out of the poll after losing. After one week in the rankings, the Gamecocks are out. For the first time this season, the Cats are not ranked.

Cincinnati dropped out of the rankings after a loss.
