I flew on the Zero-G Boeing 727 flight to experience zero gravity. My friend did it earlier this year and I decided to follow in his footsteps.
There are regular Zero-G flights in the US.
I received an orientation video about dos and don'ts after my booking was confirmed. There is no need for training.
We arrived in Las Vegas at 9 am. I changed into a GoZeroG jumpsuit and was ready to head out.
There is a large open space in the B727.
There are 8 seats in the back of the car. Before you board the flight, you will be reminded that there is no toilet on the plane.
Within 15 minutes after taking off from Las Vegas, we reached our designated airspace.
Our shoes are taken away after we reach the area. We were told to go to the back of the plane. As long as you keep hold of them, you can bring them.
Everything inside the plane can be in freefall. The instructor told me to lie on the floor while the plane was in the air, and I did. Laying on the floor will make you feel better.
Before Zero-G, the first two were lunar gravity. It's for your body to adapt to a weightless environment
You can feel it in your body when the Zero gravity moment happened, as you become weightless and begin to float and flip. The instructor wants us to stay out of the water. The 25 of us were divided into two groups, one at the front and the other in the middle.
The Zero-G moments last about 30 seconds. You lay back on the floor when the instructor says " Feet down!" as the plane climbs. Between 24,000 to 31,000 ft are the altitudes the plane shoots parabolas at.
The Zero-G gives you the ability to float, flip and feel like you're in space.
We like to catch candy and water. The parabolas took about 30 seconds to complete. On our flight, we did 12 parabolas. Don't forget to watch my video.
We returned to Las Vegas after about an hour and a half. The variation in speed and altitude can be seen on Flightradar 24.
The champagne was thrown at the end of the flight and I was able to talk to the pilots.
You can watch my video with the pilots.
For the experience, it is not cheap. Each flight costs $8,200 and is a lot of money for a short time.
It's a completely different experience than most other things. It is one of a kind and close to being an astronauts. Do you value your priorities? It was sold out on my flight.
Similar Zero-G flights are performed in Europe and Russia.
We were worried about how we would feel during Zero-G. The participants were given a pill and wristband to fight motion sickness.
The instructor told me to lay on the floor on each steep climb, and I did just fine. My body is used to pulling a bit of G when I fly. We have a lot of fun during the course. If you're unsure about booking the flight, speak to the operator.
