Mel Tucker (left) and Jim Harbaugh

Before I get to the rest of this post, I want to let you know that you are going to scroll down the video regardless of what is written before or after it. So, here you go! Sparty got jumped in the Big House by a group of Michigan State players.

UM coach Jim Harbaugh called it an assault during his postgame news conference and said that the AD is handling the situation with authorities. Harbaugh characterized two of his players trying to take on 17 pissed off Spartans as an assault, so I'm trying to ignore it.

The same coach who got into a fight with Jim Schwartz after a San Francisco 49ers-Detroit Lions game more than a decade ago is now the head coach of the New Orleans Saints. There is a certain amount of hypocrisy and hyperbole at play here because the current Michigan coach characterized his quarterback battle decision earlier this year as "biblical."

That is where my defense of Michigan State comes to an end.

Mel Tucker received a 10-year, $95 million fully guaranteed contract during the off-season, and he is two games over.500 for his career with the Spartans. I don't mind that a Black head football coach doesn't get a lot of money because they didn't deserve it. The only way the university could retain Tucker was if Michigan State was 11-2 and LSU was looking for a new head coach.

Was it true? Tucker's team has been beaten 206-109 over the last six weeks, including a win over Wisconsin. He had a great year in 2021. The threat of him leaving for a better job like a mercenary switch sides for double what the current employer is paying was so pervasive that a huge contract might as well have been an ultimatum.

Tucker is not the only coach who has had an extension from an athletic director. Tucker received a large bag for the same reason. Texas A&M and the Spartans have the same record in the same year. Both fanbases are angry over the losing because of the bleak future that can't be changed because of funny money buys.

If the AD at A&M called the bluffs of their coaches' agents, Fisher or Tucker would be the problem of the fans. If something goes wrong, don't spend that much money on X.

Astros even World Series, get accused of more cheating

The Astros were able to hold onto a five run lead because starting pitcher Framber Valdez had his curve on a string. Since this is Houston, the win was accused of cheating.

The rest of baseball fans should be happy that Rob Thomson credited the 'Stros for their win and moved on to Game 3 on Monday.
