At the league meetings earlier this month, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay made pointed comments about Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder.
Their teams are playing in Indianapolis at 4:25 p.m. The time is Sunday. The visitor's owners box is provided by Irsay.
Irsay told the Washington Post that he only ran into owners if it was coincidence. Unless we pass each other on the field at the same time, we don't see each other. It doesn't have anything to do with the man. I wouldn't know if the owner was going if I was playing the Ravens.
A Commanders spokesman issued a brief statement about Irsay's recent comments.
According to the constitution of the NFL, no club member can publicly criticize another organization or its management. We are looking forward to the game on Sunday.
Irsay said at the New York meetings that there was merit in removing the owner.
The workplace culture created during his ownership is being investigated by congress. Mary Jo White is the attorney for the National Football League, who is investigating a second time an allegation of sexual harassment against the Oakland Raiders quarterback. A $10 million fine was imposed on the organization.
Financial improprieties by the organization are being investigated by the attorney generals in Washington, D.C. and Virginia.
Discussion over the future of the owner has taken place.
Irsay said that the standard that the shield stands for in the NFL is what he believes in. Once owners talk, they'll arrive to the right decision. I believe that we need to go down that road. The investigation needs to be finished. Over the last 20 years, there have been a lot of things that have happened there.
The owners were told to wait until the investigations were over.
Irsay said that they have to look at all the evidence. removal as owner has to be considered seriously. I think it's in the best interest of the National Football League that we look at it from a certain point of view.
Irsay said there would possibly be support for a vote to force a sale.
The Commanders said that Irsay's comments were inappropriate but not surprising. Over the last two years, they pointed to their progress.
Mr. Irsay will conclude that there is no reason for the team to be sold. They will not.
