We now have more information on the decision to release Joshua Primo.

The 19-year-old was released by the Spurs because he exposed himself to women.

Shelburne and Wojnarowski joined the discussion.

Many NBA teams remain interested in Primo's talent and potential, but are looking for a more complete understanding of the situation as they consider placing a claim to acquire him before he clears waivers and becomes a free agent Monday afternoon, sources said.

The Spurs picked up the third-year option on his contract before he was let go.

The Spurs took the second-year guard out of Alabama in the first round of the NBA draft. During his first season, he averaged 5.8 points, 2.3 rebound and 1.6 assists.

In San Antonio's first four games of the 2022-23 season, Primo averaged 7.0 points, 3.3 rebound and 4.5 assists off the bench. He was released before Friday's win over the Chicago Bulls, a day after he was left out of the lineup.

RC Buford, CEO of Spurs Sports and Entertainment, said in a statement that they hoped the decision would serve the best interests of the organization and Joshua.

After being released, Primo issued a statement to the sports network.

You all are surprised by the announcement. I've been seeking help to deal with trauma I've experienced before and will now focus on my mental health treatment more fully. I want to be able to talk about these issues in the future so I can help other people who have gone through the same thing. Privacy is appreciated at this time.

The Spurs play the Wolves on Sunday.
