The Oakland A's are moving to Las Vegas, according to an interview with the Commissioner of Major League Baseball.

Commissioner Rob Manfred tells @MadDogUnleashed that he’s no longer optimistic the #A’s will remain in Oakland (‘It just doesn’t look like it’s going to happen’) and likely will move to Las Vegas. He believes the #Rays will stay put with a new ballpark in Tampa.

A new ballpark for the A's is part of the Howard Terminal project, but there is a deadline to get that done.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal's Mick Akers gave more information.

A $1 billion waterfront ballpark and a $12 billion Howard Terminal project need to be finalized by last week, according to the city administrator. He said a binding vote by the Oakland City Council would be out of the question without that.

The reason for the deadline was due to a tight schedule of reviews that would have taken place between this month and early December.

Dave Kaval, the president of the A's, previously said that the team's efforts to stay in Oakland would be hampered by the delay in the project.

The team's lease at the coliseum is set to last through 2024.
