According to reports, the TennesseeTitans will have a new quarterback on Sunday against the Houston Texans.
Ryan Tannehill has been dealing with an ankle injury and an illness, as well as taking all the starter reps in practice this week.
He missed the team's walkthrough Saturday because of the illness, making him the starter. Ian Rapoport said that Tannehill will not travel with the team to Houston, and that he has been demoted to out.
After Tannehill was benched in a 414-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills, 17 of his 20 snaps came late in the game. He ran the ball four times for 16 yards but lost a fumbled ball.
The third-round pick out of Liberty was projected to be one of the first quarterback prospects to be selected in the draft. The quarterback of the future was secured by Tennessee when he plummeted down the draft board.
As he developed behind Tannehill, he was supposed to be brought along slowly by the TITANS. Tennessee should cater to his strengths now that he's the starter. When he uses his dual-threat ability to challenge defenses with his strength and speed, he is at his best.
The last time the team lost was in Week 2. Tennessee has won four in a row and all of them were close. The team is fourth in the league in terms of rushing defense.
