There is a good reason to book your car rental this weekend.

You can earn as many as 75,000 Etihad Guest miles between now and Monday by booking with Avis.

Before you make a booking, you should know some important terms. To get the maximum number of miles, you'll have to book at least three separate rentals in a row. The other caveat is that you have to book through a special landing page, and we found prices could be a bit higher on that page than on Avis' standard website.

With how many bonus miles you could earn, there's a good chance you'll come out ahead when booking your car rental for Thanksgiving or any other three-day period for the rest of the year.

The promotion ends on Monday at midnight. 3:59 p.m. is the time of the Goods and Services Tax. Monday is Daylight Saving Time.

If you rent a car for at least three days in a row on a maximum of three reservations, you will earn 25,000 Etihad miles, which can be used for a total of 75, 000 miles. Depending on your status, you can earn between 3 and 5 miles per dollar for your purchases.

The details are listed here.

  • You must reserve your car by Monday, Oct. 31 at 11:59 p.m. GST. (3:59 p.m. EDT).
  • Your reservation pick-up must be between Nov. 1 and Dec. 23, 2022, and rentals must end by Dec. 31, 2022.
  • You can rent anywhere in the U.S. (except Alaska), Canada, Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
  • You must rent a car in group C or above.
  • You must make your reservation through avisworld.com/etihad
  • Rentals that last beyond 28 days will not earn Etihad miles.
  • You must be an Etihad Guest member to participate.

We did not find that the 15% rate discount that was stated in the offer was actually true in practice.

Is this a good deal?

The United Arab Emirates has two airlines, one of which is named Etihad. It might not be useful for someone based in the U.S., but Etihad miles are some of the mostunderappreciated rewards in points and miles. Some flights can be booked from the U.S.

  • 50,000 Etihad miles one-way to Europe in business class on American Airlines.
  • 44,000 Etihad miles one-way to Morocco in business class on Royal Air Maroc.
  • 54,000 Etihad miles one-way to Japan in business class on ANA.

The guest miles of the airline are flying under the radar.

You have to book through a special Avis landing page if you want to take advantage of this promotion. The prices were almost always the same between the landing page and the website.

That's not always the case. The landing page of the Avis website was much higher in price than the standard website.

This is an example of a November booking. You'll need to book a group C car class or higher if you're looking at a three day rental. Clicking on "specs" in the upper right-hand corner of each car will show you the car class.

The three-day group c car rental costs $377. Booking through the promo page doesn't allow you to log into your Avis account to take advantage of any discounts you might receive.

If you pay in advance, you can get a comparable car for less than the price of the three-day rental.

The rates at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport were different.

If you choose to book through the promotion, 25,000 bonus miles are worth about $350 per valuation. If you find a $100 price difference between the standard website and the landing page, you can book the promo to take advantage of the bonus miles.

You can find a more competitive deal in whichever city you choose. Don't make your rental decision without evaluating your options.

Bottom line

Between now and Monday is the best time to reserve a car rental. You could make a lot of money by earning guest miles. Make sure to check the promotion booking page and the standard Avis website to see if you can find a comparable rate.

Even if you don't have plans to rent a car, you should at least reserve one if you can. It's possible to get a business class ticket to Europe, Africa or Asia.
