When Tennille and her husband moved to Prescott in 2008, they decided to go under the radar. It was time for me to have enough of it. I wanted to live a normal life. I was able to do that. The people here are very nice. I have made a good life for myself here. The dean at the college asked me if I'd be willing to do the show.
She said that it never came up in her career. I felt my window was closing. It is my way of giving back to the music department. I won't be doing any more shows after this. This is the final one. I will return to being a normal person once it is over.

As much as I wanted to do the role, I was hesitant. Carol was a wonderful person and I've met her many times. The women who do Dolly do it their way. Dolly was married to a man when she was young and I wanted to make her more of a real person. They didn't have the chance to have children after he died. He was young at that time. She was lonely for a long time. She had to support herself by working. She liked to match people. Couples were brought together by her. She was with the love of her life at that time. She wanted everyone to have that kind of love.
She wasn't just a jokey, wink-wink person all the time. The story ends in a way that I can empathise with what she's been through. She is a strong woman. She says to her love that she needs to leave so she can live the rest of her life and do good. I can relate to her in a lot of different ways.

She remembered that the end was when she was with him. At that point, he couldn't talk. I thought about the amount of work he could have done. I thought I was going to fix him when I married him. He doesn't need anything else, I need my joy. It didn't work.
She shared that she remembers when the young men brought the gurney to take him to Hospice. He was going to pass away soon. I stood by the room door as they took him. They were laughing around. They don't know how old they were. I became so angry. I told them that the man that they were about to take to the Hospice to die was a brilliant man. You should treat him with respect. They may have had to pick up another old man and take him to Hospice. They might have joked about what they had to do. They weren't allowed to do that. I wouldn't allow them to do that to him.
Tennille said that he was always there for him. I used to think I would never be there when I was younger. You will get there if you are fortunate. It's too late if you understand it then. I was able to understand it in time.
The two people met in the 70s. Their breakthrough came when they covered a song.

She said she liked what she did. He was not easy to deal with. He was not easy to deal with. I laid out in my memoir what was going on with myself and Daryl. He was impossible in a lot of ways. He was a good musician. We created some wonderful things when we were together.
As they became famous, Tennille said she struggled to be seen. She said that Dragon's father was a famous symphony conductor and that he lived in Malibu, where famous people would stop by frequently.
He left us a great legacy through his music.
The man was used to it. I was used to living in Montgomery, Alabama. I used to like to read a book by myself. I couldn't do that when we were on TV. If you were in a restaurant, you would hear people whispering and people staring at you. I was raised as a Southern lady to be nice, but I can no longer do simple things that I used to do. I remember being in a dressing room at a store. The woman just pushed the curtain. I stand there half naked. She didn't mean it in a bad way, but it was difficult and embarrassing for me.
"Achieving overnight fame was part of the job," said Tennille. I got to meet some of the best singers I've ever seen. I didn't have anything to eat. My celebrity wasn't used to get things. It was difficult to not hurt people's feelings when they were just showing their appreciation. I know that he did the same thing. He didn't want to be in front of the group. He just wanted to play the guitar.
Tennille fondly remembers making music with Dragon. She said "Love Will Keep Us Together" ismagic.
She said that it's one of those songs that you don't forget. I don't know why, but it's just magic.

She said she enjoyed her low-key life. I have been able to support all of the wonderful organizations in this town. It makes me feel good. I have been studying classical voice for the last three years. I would like to see how far I can go. Classical music is something I like to listen to. Both of them did. I don't want to stop doing the things I enjoy.
