An IndiGo plane was forced to reject takeoff at Delhi Airport after one of its engines failed. There were 178 passengers and 7 crew members on the flight from Delhi to Bangalore that was operated by the A320. The crew rejected the takeoff at low speed due to the fact that it was going too fast. The aircraft was on the runway for eight minutes before it taxied to the apron.
The take off was aborted and the aircraft returned to the bay because of an engine stall, according to an airline spokesman.
An aircraft operating flight 6E2131 from Delhi to Bangalore returned to the bay after the pilot aborted the take off due to a technical issue. The passengers and crew are safe and an alternate aircraft is being arranged. IndiGo apologized to the passengers in a statement.
The pilot of a SpiceJet plane that was behind the IndiGo A320 in the line up while taxiing reported the engine fire to the air traffic controller.
The officials of theDGCA have been directed by the MoCA to investigate the incident.
The passengers arrived in Bangalore on a replacement A320 with a delay of 3 hours.
