According to several reports, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is suspected of being behind the attack on Paul Pelosi.

On Friday, the day of the attack, authorities identified the suspect as David DePape. The Pelosis' home was broken into and Paul Pelosi was hit with a hammer.

The police chief said that the act was not random. This was planned.

According to reports, DePape has a winding past that leads up to an obsession with extremists.

After becoming estranged from his family in British Columbia, DePape eventually came to the Bay Area, at one point joining a nudist group and becoming a jewelry maker. He was once a member of the Green Party, which promotes environmentalism, social justice, and grassroots democracy.

His political views and beliefs are not clear as they may have taken a 180 based on posts on a social media account that appeared to belong to DePape and were viewed by some outlets before being taken down. The posts were not verified by Insider.

The suspect in the case held extreme right-wing views on social media, according to law enforcement officials.

CNN reported that in 2021, DePape shared a string of dubious content on his Facebook page, including videos from the My Pillow CEO, as well as content with transphobic images and links to websites that claimed that COVID-19 vaccines are dangerous.

The outlet reported that he shared links to videos with titles such as "Democrat FARCE Commission to Investigate January 6th Capitol Riots in Congress!!!" and "Global elites plan to take control of your money!" The truth was revealed.

He shared information about a conspiracy theory that claims global elites are using the Pandemic as an excuse to take over the economy and control humanity. Politicians are offering you bribes in exchange for your enslavement, he once wrote.

DePape's most recent posts were filled with a lot of anger and phobic in many ways, according to Laura.

NBC News reported that one of DePape's personal websites had a Bay Area zip code.

The two websites identified by the Bee contained posts on topics such as aliens, Jewish people, and communism.

The Bee reported that one of the websites had a post yesterday.
