The San Antonio Spurs decided to part ways with Joshua Primo on Friday.
RC Buford said in a statement that they hoped the decision would serve the best interest of the organization and Joshua.
Two weeks after the Spurs exercised the third-year option on his contract guaranteeing his $4.3 million salary for the next two seasons, Primo was released by the team.
Luka Samanic was drafted by the Spurs with the 19th pick in the NBA draft.
The 19-year-old averaged 5.9 points in 54 games for the Spurs. He averaged 7.0 points off the bench in the first four games.
After not playing in Wednesday's road loss to the Minnesota Wolves and being listed as out for Friday's home game against the Chicago Bulls, Primo was released about an hour before tip off.
"Left Glute; Soreness" was listed on the injury report.
