Gloucester won their fourth game in a row as they beat Exeter 38-22 at Kingsholm.
In a back-and-forth first half, Santiago Socino and Santiago Carreras scored for the hosts, with Jack Maunder and Ruben van Heerden replying for the Grecians.
The two men pushed Gloucester 14 points in front.
The win was secured three minutes from time.
Less than two hours after it was confirmed that they had been suspended from the league, the game started.
The teams were level on points at the start of the match and the teams stayed close during the first half.
Harvey Skinner kicked a penalty to put the visitors ahead, before Carreras charged down a kick to unleash a trademark Rees-Zammit run, from which the Wales winger crossed down in the corner.
Maunder pushed Exeter in front, but they failed to take advantage of the spell of possession and territory that followed.
While he fell short after being picked out by a cross-field kick, the ball was recycled and Carreras was able to score.
Again, Exeter hit back, this time through Van Heerden, as Gloucester missed tackles. Their lead was short-lived with a third try in seven minutes.
Chapman was able to open up some daylight for Gloucester after Lloyd Evans helped to release Carreras.
They began to win more of the physical battle. The margin was widened further by Ackermann's power.
When Albert Tuise was sent to the bin for a maul violation, Gloucester's ascendancy was halted and the numbers paid off through Hodge.
Since January, Gloucester has only lost once at home. The roar from The Shed was deafening as captain Ludlow scored his first try of the season.
They moved up to third place in the table.
The head coach of Gloucester told a radio station.
It is obviously to be remembered. In the way they played, they were bold, they attacked the game, and I thought they managed it well in the second half.
They were rewarded for going for it.
At the start of the season, we hoped to get better and better at what we do, and we started to show that.
The positives are that the tries were spread out between the forwards and backs.
Ali Hepher spoke to the radio.
We were scrapping, especially early on, but we gave up an error and allowed them to get back in the game.
They were absolutely clinical when they were given the chance.
We did a good job at stopping their maul when they got us in the corner. We gave them too many chances when we gave away another penalty.
They took full advantage.
