The following article containsSPOILERS for Halloween ends.

It has been almost two weeks since Halloween ends in theaters and on Peacock, and some people still feel disappointed by the end of the trilogy. Though the film delivers a gripping final showdown between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers, many audiences were put off by the way the film focuses less on this conflict and more on newcomerCorey Cunningham, who becomes an agent of evil after meeting the Shape.

The film they watched went against what they were expecting. Halloween ends has many fine qualities that make it better than people think, and the film is a real cinematic treat.

It does something new with the franchise

Halloween ends deals with the aftermath of a villain's rampage from the previous film, exploring the fear, anger, and grief left behind and building up to the villain's return later in the movie. Audiences have been critical of Michael not having much screen time in this film, but his influence casts a large shadow over Haddonfield, making him an even darker force of nature.

He is frightening because he has never seen it. The film is more frightening for the audience due to the suspense of waiting to see when and where he will show himself. Michael has 10 minutes and 55 seconds of screen time in Halloween ends and 9 minutes and 37 seconds in 1978's Halloween.

This story has been done many times before, so it wouldn't have been that interesting to just focus on Laurie's final pursuit of Michael. It has to bring something new to the franchise to justify its existence. Halloween ends shows how Michaels evil can spread to other people. With the citizens of Haddonfield still reeling from Michael's last massacre and the Boogeyman nowhere to be found, they all shift their rage and malice towards an easy target:Corey Cunningham.

After accidentally killing a boy he was babysitting on Halloween night, the townsfolk of Haddonfield see him as a serial killer and ostracize him. The people abuse and mistreatment ofCorey eventually lead to him becoming a revenge killer. As a result, anyone who is seemingly normal can end up being like Michael given the right circumstances.

It explores mental health in a way few horror movies attempt to do

The portrayal of a mentally ill killer in the Halloween franchise has contributed to society's stigma towards mental illness. Halloween ends explores the humanity of the characters who have mental health problems after Michael's murders.

Laurie is now sober and trying to live a life that isn't focused on her trauma. Laurie wrote a memoir about his experience with Michael.

Laurie became fixated on Michael once more as she noticed the darkness inside. Her fake suicide attempt is more believable because she relapsed into drinking and fell back down a rabbit hole of obsession. Laurie's struggles in the movie show how trauma and grief don't just disappear, and they can continue to follow someone like Michael.

Jamie's Journey is a featurette.

The film explores the misery that Michael left in Haddonfield, which was a difficult time for many people's mental health. Laurie claims that the people of Haddonfield descended into a plague of grief, of blame, of paranoia, and that the suffering he caused became an infection passing on to people who never crossed his path.

Laurie acknowledges that the Boogeyman is still a man after she takes off her mask at the end of the movie. He is a helpless human just like the rest of them, so there is no supernatural or scary thing about him.

Halloween Ends pays homage to the franchise

Laurie hides from Michael in Halloween Ends.

Halloween ends displays a fond love for the entire franchise, including its black sheep film, Season of the witch. The opening title sequence of Green's third film uses a blue type instead of an orange type. In retrospect, how this new film referenced a controversial movie implies that the story wouldn't be the one fans expected to see and that the filmmakers knew it would be divisive.

In Halloween ends, Laurie rests her head against a doorway and Michael impales one of his victims to a wall and looks at it. The famous image of Michael looking down from a balcony while holding a knife is recreated in a scene where Laurie shootsCorey. The entire trilogy, including the finale, was a labor of love for the franchise, despite fans saying the filmmakers were not fit to remake Halloween.

There are many great scares

The Shape swings an axe at his male victim in Halloween Ends.

The movie delivers frightening moments to the audience. In the opening scene of Halloween Ends, Jeremy is accidentally killed when he is kicked over a balcony by someone else. The fact that someone else killed a young boy in this film makes it even more shocking.

Many of the gory kills seen in the previous two films are still being presented. After hitting his face into a desk,Corey delivers an extra bit of karma to the radio DJ by cutting off his tongue, which landed on a spinning record and interrupted the music playing. The filmmakers know how to create some truly unique scares.

At long last, Laurie gets her happy ending

Halloween ends Michael's reign of terror once and for all and is the best conclusion to the series. His body was destroyed in an industrial shredder at the end of the film, so there is no chance of him coming back. The shape is no longer with us.

The people of Haddonfield can now move on with their lives. Laurie leaves Haddonfield to live her own life, while the latter finishes her memoir and finds a new love in deputy hawkins. It is nice to see Laurie and Allyson achieve happiness, since they have suffered so much.
