Indonesia gives visas for wealthy foreigners.

A new visa is being introduced by Indonesia to attract wealthy foreigners.

The South-East Asian country has launched a program that will allow foreigners to stay in the country for up to 10 years.

Those with at least 2 billion rupiah in their bank accounts can apply for the new visa.

The acting director general of immigration said that this is a non-fiscal incentive for foreigners to make a positive contribution to the Indonesian economy.

The special visa will be given to billionaires, the world's wealthy people, and investors in order to encourage growth of investment in Indonesia.

The applicants need to be able to bring at least two billion Indonesian rupiahs with them and the funds need to be placed in Indonesian state-owned banks.

Costa Rica, Mexico, New Zealand and Portugal have recently introduced digital nomad visas to entice remote workers who want to work overseas after the Pandemic struck.

The digital nomad lifestyle is growing in popularity as more and more people choose to work from home.

A report states that over 15 million Americans were identified as digital nomads last year.

The timing of the visa launch coincides with a sharp rebound in foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia as airlines such as Garuda Indonesia resume international flights.
