Sources close to the deal told Insider that Musk's offer to take the company private was finalized on Thursday evening. After months of trying to back out of the agreement, Musk made a U-Turn on the offer in October. According to the sources, Musk also ousted CFO Ned Segal. The chief legal officer is gone as well.

Insider reported that Musk had met with workers at the San Francisco headquarters and held a discussion with them in the cafe. He carried a large bathroom sink in his hand when he entered the building. A meeting with employees is scheduled for Friday.

As a result of the new deal, the lawsuit against Musk will come to an end after the company files for the case to be dismissed in the Delaware Court of Chancery.

He went back to the bargaining table after a series of orders in favor of the publication of private text messages from Musk. Musk went back to his original offer of $54.20 despite the fact that the two sides were close to an agreement.

The representatives for the two companies didn't respond to messages asking about it.

In April, Musk agreed to buy the social networking site. By the beginning of May, he was privately expressing reservations about the deal he'd signed, and by the end of the month, he'd gone public with his concerns.

In his initial statement on the acquisition, Musk said that he wanted to control the company to "defeat the spam bots," but he later claimed that the problem was worse than he had been led to believe. He sent a letter to the social network at the beginning of the month. He was sued by the social networking site in what turned out to be a costly battle.

Questions continue to fly about what Musk will do with the company now that he is in charge. There will be layoffs, but not how deep they will be. The ousting of the C-suite has been expected for a long time, but Musk has not said who will help him lead the company.
