I wish for more after the first season of House of Dragon. I have watched each episode twice and read through the lore. I would do it if I could immerse myself in that world and roleplay as a Targaryen queen.

That is eventually the vision of Hidden Door, a game studio that specializes in narrative artificial intelligence. Hidden Door wants to turn any work of fiction into a collaborative experience, where players can jump into their favorite story worlds turned into dynamic graphic novels, with text and images being generated based on their choices.

The original text of "The Wizard of Oz" is "so banana pants, which is perfect because it's supposed to be silly and fun," said Matt Brandwein, Hidden Door's co- founder.

It doesn't take four hours to get into character with Hidden Door, which is a combination of D&D and Roblox. An in-game dungeon master is the narrator and builds out a world based on the choices you make.

Hidden Door says that the above demo is not the final experience.

It all comes together like the back of a book, which doesn't tell you everything that will happen, but it gives you the sort of things you will.

When a player chooses a character type, the artificial intelligence automatically creates a cute 2D cartoon character. A character named "Mischief Maker" might look like Dennis the Menace in the Land of Oz.

Once the character is chosen, the story begins and you are given a challenge to complete, which you can do in a variety of ways. A host of responsively generated non-player characters, items and locations, which can be collected, traded and shared with friends to make into new worlds and stories, can be created by the Artificial Intelligence.

Brandwein said that his company's narrative artificial intelligence was a "merry machine". It has been trained on two million stories and is fine-tuned on the author's work. It knows what could happen but also what isn't. Fine tuning it to have the right level of surprise is one of the things we are doing right now.

Last month, a game studio came out with a similar type of game, which uses text-generated artificial intelligence to write dialogue and scene descriptions. The company has faced challenges in both areas.

The model was trained on millions of stories and Hidden Door claims it has solved the content generation part. The world gets larger the more the game is played. Artifacts can be shared with other players who can use them in their own stories. Hilary Mason, Hidden Door's CEO, said that the machine's ability to take ideas from the players is a breakthrough on the impossible problem of generative story telling.

In order to make this more of a community collaborative entertainment experience, the company is going to work with a dozen well-known sci-fi and fantasy authors who are interested in world building.

If you are on Amazon, you can read the book, listen to the book, and then you can play it. It is a very trivial free-to-play game. Why can't you seduce the guy in 'Bridgerton'?

Black Mirror: Bandersnatch gave players an option to choose their own adventure, which was a first for the streaming service. Brandwein said that it was pre-scripted and only gave you an A or a B.

A $7 million seed round was raised by Hidden Door. The startup is testing its current product with a group of nine to 12 year olds, and is looking for authors to collaborate with for future stories, as well as other potential tech partners with an interest in generative artificial intelligence.
