On the eve of the acquisition, employees are wondering what the future holds for them.

The takeover of the company by Musk is expected to be completed on Friday. As of press time, an employee all-hands with Musk has yet to be scheduled despite a message from the CMO that they would hear from him on Friday. Parag Argawal hasn't addressed employees in a long time.

Employees are waiting for more from Musk, but the reality of the acquisition is starting to set in. The same day that many employees will see their current batches of equity and cash compensation vest, an internal memo was sent out by the company. It was reported that Musk had some of the product leaders from his company meet with employees from the other side of the country. Employees dressed up and brought their children to work for a Halloween party at the office.

Jay Sullivan, the general manager of consumer and revenue product, is the most visible leader within the company. He has been holding regular listening sessions with employees, but on Thursday, shortly after employees received a calendar invite for a "quick informal check in" call with him, the meeting was canceled without explanation.

The absence of Parag Argawal, who Musk soured on after the two initially started talking about Musk joining the board, has been noted by many employees. An employee who requested anonymity to speak without the company's permission said that he had been absent for weeks. One person said that he had ghosted them. There are a lot of similar comments about Argawal on the employee-only section of Blind and on the employee-only section of slack.

Now that he's going to buy the company, Musk has begun meeting with some of the leaders. He showed up to San FransISCO headquarters carrying a kitchen sink and holding a discussion at the coffee bar. He downplayed a recent report that he would lay off 75 percent of his employees.

In June of this year, Musk said he wanted the app to become more like WeChat and TikTok. He said the deal was back on several weeks ago, and that it would help create X.

Musk's penchant for drama has made his takeover of the social media site messy. We are close to a conclusion to this saga. It's the start of a new era.
