The Amazon Fire TV Stick is becoming more popular as more and more people cut the cord. The Firestick works well when it's working right.

Your streaming experience may be disrupted if your Firestick's remote control ceases to work. It could mean that you can't turn on your TV.

There are many ways to fix a Firestick remote.

The steps in this article should work for any Amazon Fire TV device.

How to fix your Firestick remote when it's not working

You can try the following methods.

Change the batteries

This might be hard to do, but we need to hear it. The Firestick uses a lot of power when you press it. That adds up over a year.

The batteries on your Firestick remote need to be removed and replaced with new ones. The majority of Firestick remotes have two batteries.

Try to use the remote again after you replace the batteries.

Make sure your remote is in range

The Firestick's remote uses a different type of technology. You don't need to point the remote at the Firestick in order to use it, but you do need to be close to it. If there are no obstacles in between, the maximum range of connection is about 30 feet.

If it's not working, it's best to get as close as you can, because the range for Firestick remotes is different.

Remove any obstructions

The Firestick remote needs a path to connect with it. Don't let a game console or pile of books block your remote or Firestick. It's a good idea to remove any nearby devices that send radio signals.

There should be a line between the remote and the firestick.

Unpair and reconnect the remote

Your remote's connection to the Firestick might need to be refreshed if batteries aren't the problem. It may be possible to unpair the remote and re-pair it.

This is the first thing. You can unpair the remote by pressing the Home and Back buttons.

The steps should be repeated a couple of times if the Firestick and remote don't work together. You can use another remote to pair the remote from your Firestick.

Reset the remote

Resetting the remote is possible if unpairing didn't work. It also restarts the remote's internal software and hardware.

Reset your Firestick

It's possible that your Firestick is the cause of the connection issues. You can factory reset your Firestick if the previous steps didn't work.

The Firestick's data will be erased after the factory resets it. You have to log back into your accounts after redownloading your apps. It's a good way to fix issues.

Even if it's a virtual remote in the Fire TV app, you will need to have at least one remote that you can connect to.
