Lung cancer and melanoma had the biggest decreases in death rates, falling by 4% and 5% per year, respectively.

Cancers of the brain, pancreas and bones and joints for men increased in mortality rates.

The Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services described the findings of the report as positive.

According to the report, the country can meet the goal of reducing the death rate from cancer by 50% over the next 25 years.

The report showed that the incidence and death rates of cancer were different for whites and blacks. Incidence rates of uterine cancer increased among women in every racial and ethnic group apart from white women, where rates were stable, for example, and death rates from prostrate cancer were stable among white and Black men, but decreased among Hispanic men, Asian/ Pacific Islander men and American Indian or Alaska Native Dr. Lisa Richardson is the director of CDC's Division of Cancer Prevention and Control. Richardson said that the CDC is working with partners inside and outside of government. We can create an America where people are free of cancer.

The director of the National Cancer Institute said that the report reflected improvements in preventing, detecting, and treating cancer. The report shows how important it is for society to work together to tackle the disease. Karen Knudsen, chief executive officer of the American Cancer Society, said that the report highlights the fact thatdurable cures remain elusive for many people.

Key Background

Cancer is the leading cause of death and disease in the U.S. and around the world. Cancer and heart disease are the only two illnesses that have killed more Americans than Covid-19 over the past few years. Genetics, lifestyle and environment can all play a role in the treatment and prevention of cancer, as each may require a different approach to identify, treat and prevent.

Big Number

600,589. The number of people who died of cancer in the year was calculated by the CDC. There were over one million new cancer cases that year. If 100,000 people were diagnosed with cancer in the year, 146 would die from it.

What To Watch For

The years of the Covid-19 epidemic are not covered in the report. The Pandemic disrupted cancer screening services and treatment for many cancer patients and may have changed the trajectory for the detection and survival of some types of cancer. A technology used to build Moderna's and Pfizer's vaccines is believed to have promise in the fight against cancer.

Covid vaccine technology could be able to crack cancer. There is a radio station.
