The Callisto Protocol won't be released in Japan due to the game's age rating.

The Japanese version of the Callisto Protocol has been stopped. The game's Japanese account said that the rating couldn't be passed at the moment. We have decided that we won't be able to give you the experience you need. Everyone in Japan will be aware. We will refund you if you have pre-ordered.

The level of gore and violence within The Callisto Protocol was not liked by the CERO ratings board. The game will be canceled in Japan because Striking Distance Studios didn't want to modify the game in order to make it less violent.

There are two versions of a Japanese game, the censored release and the gory, according to Serkan. The "gory" version usually has the CERO's "Z" rating, which is for ages 18 and older. The international and western versions of those are alsocensored.

Digital Trends gave a preview of The Callisto Protocol and praised the game for its grotesque horror. It is difficult to make players uncomfortable in a way that engages them.

The Callisto Protocol will launch on December 2.
