The memoir of Prince Harry, an object of obsessive anticipation worldwide since first announced last year, will be released in January.

The book will be called "Spare" and is being billed by Penguin Random House as an account of "raw, unflinching honesty and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief."

The world watched in horror as Prince Harry and his brother, William, walked behind their mother, Diana, as she died.

Billions of people were wondering what the princes would think and feel when Diana was laid to rest.

This is the story that Harry has been waiting to tell.

The title of the memoir refers to Prince Harry being aspare, not the first in line to succession. Next in line is the Prince of Wales.

The audio edition of the book will be read by Prince Harry. The duke will use the proceeds from "Spare" to donate to British charities. He and Prince Seeiso founded Sentebale to help children and young people affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa.

Prince Harry is described as a husband, father, humanitarian, military veteran, mental health advocate, and environmentalist by the publisher.

The public and Royals watchers have been waiting for a long time for the book to be released.

When the Duke of Sussex and his American-born wife were interviewed by Oprah Winfrey in Santa Barbara, California, in March of 2021, they revealed that they were willing to talk about their private lives. The couple talked about the unhappiness with their new life in England, the alleged racism within the royal family, and Harry's fear that his wife's life might be in danger if they stayed in his native country.

In 1992, Diana worked with Andrew Morton on her book, "Diana: Her True Story," in which she described her unhappy marriage to the future King Charles.

Harry told Winfrey that he helped pay for his security because his family cut him off. The Archewell Foundation is an impact-driven non-profit that they have launched.

There were rumors that Harry was not saying much about his family because of the book's delay. He has spoken of being estranged from his brother, William, although the siblings and their wives appeared in public together after the Queen's death.

The CEO of Penguin Random House said in a statement that the company was honored to be publishing Prince Harry's candid and emotionally powerful story. He shares a moving personal journey from trauma to healing that will inspire and encourage millions of people around the world.
