Leslie Jordan to be Honored by Hometown, 'Cherished Son of Chattanooga'

The city is working with the family of the late actor to honor him.

According to a rep for the city,Leslie was remembered as one of the cherished sons of CHATHAM.

We're told that a family member reached out to the city to find a place to honor his memory. To make it happen, the city is working with the family to find a venue for a memorial service and make sure the date works well for them.

Some of the ideas being considered include naming a street or building in his honor but we're told the final decision will be made by his family.

The mayor's ties to the city go back to when they worked at a local restaurant as teenagers.

We're told that after his movie success, he returned to his hometown to volunteer with local charities.

The story was broken by the gossip website. When he suffered a medical emergency and crashed his car into the side of a building in Hollywood, investigators believed he was suffering a heart attack.

He was on his way to the "Call Me Kat" set for filming and we're told he had been complaining about his breathing.

The city is trying to balance showing respect for the family with being responsive to the community who want to honor him.

In West Hollywood, where he used to frequent restaurants and coffee shops, he will be honored. At their next meeting, the WeHo city council will adjourn in honor of Leslie.

The mayor of West Hollywood tells us. There was a person in the city who was beloved by everyone. He entertained everyone in his path at the 'Big Gay Starbucks.' He claimed that the City did it for him when they replaced the parking meters with lower ones. She was a fun person. He will be missed.
