Schwarber's home runs have been incredible.

The longest home run in Padres' history was hit in the first game of the NLCS. In the fourth game of the series, another 429 feet was lost in the trees behind the center field fence.

In the regular season and playoffs, he has hit 49 home runs, an NL-leading 46 and three in the playoffs. It wouldn't surprise anyone if he added to that total in his second trip to the World Series.

Schwarber has always hit homers. He usually plays in the playoffs. Schwarber has appeared in five league championship series in his eight year career. His leadership has been more valuable than his bat, according to his teammates.

"I compare him to Curry, he's a better player," said Stott, a freshman. You don't hear about Curry yelling at his teammates or showing them up. They follow his instructions. When you're down, he helps you. I'm not sure what it is. A nice person, who wants the best for everyone.

He has the ability to crush the ball and drain 3s as well.

Schwarber has left an impression on everyone from his days in Ohio to his four stops in the major league. It's not just with his teammates, but with his coaches as well, according to those close to him.

It's hard to say what he does or how he does it but he was the only player I could talk to before a big game. It's not something I can say about any other players in my career. Usually it's the opposite.

He let me go.

One day, that quality didn't just show up. Schwarber has it in his genes.

Schwarber believes it was a combination of everything. It was a combo of both parents. The police officer and nurse were wearing blue uniforms. They made sure that I could travel around and my sister could ride her horses.

Being on the football team and learning how to win helped. You have to work as a team. I try to take the same mentality into the game that baseball has.

The road to where Schwarber is now is not as smooth as it may seem.

Smith admits his former star player wasn't a high profile performer coming out of high school, he hit.408 with 18 home runs over four years. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the fourth round.

Cubs' brass thought it could be getting a special player in the locker room. Theo Epstein compared Schwarber's makeup to that of Pedroia, the beloved leader of the RedSox who won two World Series. John Farrell said that Pedroia was the cause of the drink in Boston. Schwarber was the same as the Cubs imagined.

Schwarber's growth as a player was hampered by a terrible knee injury. He earned the respect of his teammates when he worked harder than he had in his entire life to return for the World Series as a designated hitter. He became a folk hero in Chicago as the team won the title for the first time in 100 years.

They are going to the World Series. Their journey to the Fall Classic was covered by us.

The Phils won the NLCS.

The season was saved by Philadelphia.

It was inevitable that a confrontation would take place.

Schwarber hit.171 in his first 64 games after the Cubs moved him to the leadoff position. He was demoted to the Minor Leagues for two weeks. He hit.191 over the course of the season with a.312 on- base percentage.

Schwarber said that he was a bad baseball player last year. Really bad.

Schwarber's self-deprecation was a key quality that he would take with him to other teams. Failure may be the best attribute to have in a sport.

He will say great one-liners. He will say "Hey, you're the best out there, I'm the worst in here" if you are struggling. It makes you feel happy.

The theme of Schwarber's wedding was laughing at himself. Greg Schwarber was the first to give a toast after his son's struggles at the plate. He hemmed and hawed and seemed flustered as he delivered the punch line.

The place was laughing.

After the 2020 season, Jon Lester was going to leave the Cubs to sign with another team. As the Cubs prepared for a playoff game, the team brought Lester out onto the field for a video tribute.

All of Schwarber's fielding gaffes in left field were shown in the video. The house was brought down by Schwarber's sarcastic narration.

Schwarber made an error on a throw to the pitcher while he was covering first in the ALCS. His animated celebration for the easy play got him a standing ovation when he connected with Eovaldi for the out.

Schwarber said he got a laugh out of most people. I will be the first one to complain. If we are able to make a joke out of it, we can make ourselves laugh and make someone else laugh.

Jean Segura said that he had never seen a guy with that mentality. He is our leader. He supports his teammates in different ways. He's the same guy.

Schwarber has taken it upon himself to be a resource for rookies. Many of his Philadelphia teammates are playing in their first playoffs, while Schwarber is playing in his 15th.

Rob Thomson said that he takes the young guys out every day and gets them on the machine. He makes them happy. They feel wanted by him. helps them out
