Daniel Ek said that the artist's catalog will not be removed from the platform. Ek said that West would be removed from the platform if his comments were in his music. Ek said that since none of West's lyrics crossed the line, his catalog wouldn't be removed from the service.

According to Ek, his music doesn't violate our policy. If his label wants to take action or not, that is up to them.

It doesn't mean you can't stream West's music You can block certain artists from playing on their profiles on the mobile app, but you can't do it on the desktop. There is a way to block the rapper on the streaming service.

  1. Head to Ye’s artist page on Spotify
  2. Tap the three dot menu next to the “Follow” button
  3. Select “Don’t play this artist”

If an artist is blocked on the platform, their music will be greyed out and the platform will not recommend their music in mixes it makes. When the artist is featured on another performer's song, it's dicey. If you block Ye, you won't be able to listen to his 2008 song "Heartless" but you will be able to listen to "Hot Shit", a song featuring West. All of West's catalog can be accessed through the desktop app.

Apple Music and other platforms don't have a way to hide an artist.
