There is a chance that the Dallas Cowboys running back will not be able to play against the Chicago Bears on Sunday because of a right knee injury.
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said that he won't practice Wednesday and will have to take a break from the game as Dallas tries to manage his workload.
After the Cowboys play the Bears, they have a bye, which will allow for a two-week break for him. McCarthy said that won't affect a potential decision this week.
McCarthy said that they will just see how he responds today. The plan will be built based on what they accomplish today.
In the second quarter of Sunday's victory against the Detroit Lions,Elliott took a hit to his knee. He scored two touchdown and finished with 57 rushing yards on 15 carries but was limping in the locker room after the game.
This season, the running back has racked up over 400 yards and four touchdown. The three-time Pro Bowler played most of last season with a knee injury that he said took away his burst. He wore a brace on his knee but still played.
Tony Pollard, who has 373 yards and two touchdown on 67 carries, would be relied on by the Cowboys if they were to lose to the Bears. In his career, he's never had more than 14 carries.
McCarthy said that they're so lucky to have Tony and Zeke here. Both of them are able to carry a full load.
In the past two games, the Cowboys have called up rookies from the practice squad, including Qadree Ollison, who is on the practice squad.
