Stephen A.: Brady and the Bucs can't afford to lose to Ravens (1:57)

Stephen A. Smith talked about the importance of the Ravens vs. Bucs game for Tom Brady. There is a time and a place for this.

1:35 PM ET

Tom Brady will be trying to avoid three consecutive losses for the first time in 20 years and just the second time in his career when the Baltimore Ravens come to town.

The Bucs will be without several players for the game against the Ravens. Russell Gage and Sean Murphy-Bunting are out.

Wide receiver Julio Jones, who is battling a knee injury, will be a game-time decision, and Akiem Hicks, who returned to practice this week for the first time since suffering a foot injury, will be doubtful.

After being out here for two days, we will see how he feels. We'll listen to it.

Goedeke, who has struggled to make the transition from college right tackle to NFL left guard, suffered a foot injury against Carolina. When Goedeke tried to practice this week, it became obvious that he wasn't well enough to play, even though Bowles said earlier this week that he would start.

The beginning will be given to Leverett.

Gage, one of the team's best defensive players, had an injury that was significant enough to warrant an exam, while Winfield, one of the team's best defensive players, had a concussion and is still in the protocol.

Davis missed practice all week because of a hip injury and was held out last week. Murphy-Bunting, their top reserve corner and a starter last year, was held out last week with a quad injury, but he is still progressing and has been running.

The team is cautious about Brate's recovery because he is still dealing with a neck injury. His return is not set in stone.

K.J. Britt was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury.
