Ice Brady, a freshman forward for the University of Connecticut women's basketball team, will miss the entire season after suffering a knee injury.
Brady underwent surgery Tuesday and will be out of action for a few days.
It's heartbreaking when a player has an injury because they put so much time and effort into being the best player they can be. It's unfortunate that they can't play when that's taken away. Ice has made so much progress since she's been here and I'm really confident that when she comes back, she's going to be better than she already is.
Brady is one of three incoming freshman who are ranked in the top five of their class by the magazine. Ins Bettencourt from Portugal was brought in by Auriemma to add another guard after player of the year Paige Bueckers injured her knee.
With Bueckers and Brady out for 2022-23, the University of Connecticut will have 10 healthy players.
Christyn Williams, Olivia Nelson-Ododa, and Evina Westbrook all left for the WNBA in the wake of Bueckers and Brady's injuries. Four returning players will help carry the load for a team that is looking for its first national title in two years.
