Speaking at the Wall Street Journal's Tech Live event on Tuesday evening, he said that Apple will have to comply with the new EU regulation on USB-C charging for all new phones. Apple is open to governments telling them what they want to accomplish with a regulation instead of mandating one, according to the company's vice president.
"Over a billion people have cables with the lightning connector, and many of them are in danger of becoming e-waste because of the EU's legislative actions."
Apple says it won't have any choice but to switch over to a new type of charging device.
