John Fetterman and Republican celebrity TV doctor Mehmet Oz outside a news studio in the state capital, Harrisburg, where the two opponents for US Senate would soon take the debate stage
John Abbott, a 62-year-old Democratic voter, walked down the street with a large cardboard sign that said "Big John has my vote."
"He's hitting the button in the right places for me" on abortion rights and LGBTQ+ issues, Abbott said of Fetterman.
The general election for Pennsylvania's open Senate seat is one of the most important in the country as it could determine who controls the upper chamber. Democrats want to expand their majority in the state, while Republicans want to keep their seat in the Senate.

The first and only debate between Fetterman and Oz will take place on Tuesday night. Voters want to hear the candidates talk about issues that are driving them to the polls, such as abortion, the economy, immigration, and crime.
Laurie, a Republican voter from Cumberland County, said she was happy to support Dr. Oz. "He just needs to keep reinforcing the conservative principles of freedom, no mandates, no lockdowns, vote what his people sent him there to vote on, no caving to the left-wing ideology."
Oz has the vote of a 74-year-old voter named Corrine Sechrist.
Sechrist said that they were voting for Trump because they love him. Donald J. Trump is the president of the United States.
Oz has closed in on Fetterman with several pollsters rating the race as a "toss-up."
