She and her team decided to start the company in an industry that was already familiar with augmented reality. Illumix launched Five Nights at Freddys in November of 2019. Within a day, the game organically gained more than 30,000 users and reached number two in Apple's app store, and it reached more than one million users within a month. More than 35 million people have downloaded the game.
She says that the first night that the game was on the app store, it was terrifying and exhilarating. It gave us a good idea of what the future of entertainment might look like.
Since the initial success of the game, the company has expanded into providing augmented reality tools for e- commerce. She thinks we will look back and see how inefficient the process was for purchasing things.
The technology could change digital engagement on a larger scale by changing how we consume and try on clothes.
I knew that at some point the world would have to move away from a passive digital world. An underlying technology company would become one of the most important companies of the future if that is the case. That is what I wanted to make.
