According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, Los Angeles Clippers guard John Wall didn't like the decision of the Houston Rockets to sit him.

"Pissed as well as possible." It was Pissed ashell. He wanted to play basketball. They said that they had a great year the year before. We're excited to have you back next year. Try to help young men. I think I'll play the same role.

According to a report by Shams Charania of The Athletic in September 2021, Wall and the Rockets mutually decided that he wouldn't play games for the team that season and they would work together on a trade. He decided to take a buyout in June.

Through two games off the bench, he's averaged 16.0 points for the Clippers.

After dealing away James Harden, the Astros finished with the worst record in the NBA in each of the last two seasons. Rather than use the veteran Wall, the organization wanted to see what it had from the two young guards.

Wall was given the option to sit out or work on a trade last season. There was no deal reached.

In an essay for The Players' Tribune, the 32-year-old described how he had suicidal thoughts without basketball.

Wall has a fresh start in his basketball career with the Clippers.

The five-time All-Star is unlikely to reach his previous form after playing just 40 games in the last three seasons, but he can be an important part of the rotation.
