Chants of "Zappe!" could be heard. It's a lot of fun! During the first half of Monday's game, there was a flurry of big bets on New England quarterback Bailey Zappe, causing the first-year signal caller's rookies odds to move from 50-1 to 5-1.

After he replaced starter Mac Jones late in the first quarter and promptly led the Pats to back-to-back touchdown drives, Caesar's Sportsbook took six bets of $1,000 or more on him to win the offensive rookies of the year award. There were a lot of bets and the biggest wager was $3,000. The six-figure wagers are the most large on any player offered by the company. "All it took was one possession with him throwing a touchdown to a guy who was wide open," Pullen said. People are going to jump on when the markets are closed. Nowadays, that is how it is. All you have to do is one series or half for people to form an opinion. He doesn't need to wait to see how he does next game. You have to take it because you think the value is there now.

The third-favorite to win the AP's offensive rookies of the year award, Zappe had his odds at 13-2 by Tuesday morning. Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III is the favorite at 1-2, followed by Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce. At other sportsbooks, Zappe's odds were20-1. In a 33-14 loss to the Bears, he was 14-of-22 for 185 yards and one touchdown.

Before Monday's game, Zappe was 60-1 to win the award, but he got as short as 15-2 at one point, before he settled at 12-1. At some books, his odds were as high as 20-1.

The odds to win the award were posted at the casino. He grew to as much as 200-1 early in the season before moving into the lineup after Jones was injured.

The New England coach told reporters that he planned to play both quarterbacks against the Bears, despite the fact that Zappe led New England to victories against Detroit and Cleveland. If the score had been closer, Jones would have been brought in. He wasn't sure which quarterback would start against the Jets.
