A voluntary recall of more than a dozen aerosol dry hair products sold in the United States has been issued by the company.

Dove, Suave, TIGI and TRESemmé are some of the brands that were affected by the situation.

The United States and Canada are affected by the voluntary recall. The company said it had not received reports of adverse events from customers.

The company said that it was recalling the products out of an abundance of caution.

The voluntary recall was the result of an internal investigation by the company. The company said it was working with suppliers to address the issue and that the spray can was the source of the benzene.

The company could not be reached for comment.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, benzene is released into the air through cigarette smoke and burning coal, oil and gasoline.

Exposure to high levels of the chemical causes cells not to work correctly, diminishing a person's red blood cell count and wreaking havoc on the immune system, according to the public health agency. The FDA says that Benzene can be absorbed by the skin.

The Department of Health and Human Services says long-term exposure can cause leukemia. It can hurt reproductive organs in women.

Customers can request to be reimbursed if they stop using the products.

According to the F.D.A., there have been at least six recalls of benzene this year. Products that have been recalled in the past include Disney themed hand sanitizer, Banana Boat sunscreen, and Suave spray deodorant.
