The NFL said in a statement that there was no request for an autograph in the postgame interaction between the game officials and Mike Evans.
The side judge and line judge called Evans' name after the game. They handed Evans a card.
According to the collective bargaining agreement, game officials can't approach players or coaches for autographs because of the appearance of partiality. It is possible for officials to seek autographs for charity, but they need to go through the league's officiating department.
The league determined that the two individuals weren't asking for autographs. The league didn't say what they said to Evans or why they called him out. A spokesman for the league said there was no other information to give.
The request was not immediately returned.
Both officials have been reminded of the importance of avoiding impropriety when interacting with players, coaches, and club staff on game day.
Both of them have been in the NFL for 21 years.
