Governments and chip manufacturers have taken actions to expand production in order to prevent future shortages. They should make sure that the future supply chains for computer chips are resistant. A study we did with DENSO, a global automotive component manufacturer, showed how vulnerable the supply chain is to disruptions. A short disruption of a fabrication facility in Taiwan for 10 days could cause a domino effect that would last almost a year.
