The show made sure to show off how intimidating Vhagar is in the few aerial scenes she's had so far.
Vhagar is the oldest dragon of the ones owned by House Targaryen in "House of the Dragon" and was previously ridden by Visenya Targaryen during King Aegon I Targaryen's reign.
Vhagar is owned by Laena Velaryon.
Princess Laena Velaryon was the first to own Vhagar in the House of the Dragon. She flies with her husband, Prince Daemon Targaryen, as they return to Pentos.
Unfortunately, Laena goes through a traumatic birth in episode six that puts both her and her child at risk, and she forces Vhagar to end her suffering by incinerating her.
Aemond Targaryen is on Vhagar.
After Laena's death at the end of episode six, a young Aemond Targaryen sneaks out in the middle of the night to try to tame her dragon. The young boy was able to take control of the largest dragon in the show.
Aemond lost an eye because he took Vhagar for himself, as a fight broke out between the Targaryen and Velaryon children.
There is an eye for a dragon. That is a very good trade.
Caraxes has a long neck.
Caraxes is the longest dragon in the group because of his snakelike neck. He has bright red scales, which makes him look very different. Before the death of the prince, he was owned by Aemon Targaryen, the son of the king.
Daemon Targaryen is in charge.
The Prince Daemon Targaryen is a constant rebel against his brother in the series. He took Dragonstone and a dragon egg for himself and his consort, Mysaria, when they tried to oust Daemon from the castle. When another dragon shows up, that doesn't go very well.
The syrax has scales.
Otto and the soldiers have a dragon to back them up, like Caraxes. She is no less vicious than Vhagar and Caraxes. Daemon backs down when confronted on the bridge to Dragonstone because of it. It's possible that it's because of who was riding syrax.
Rhaenyra Targaryen is on a ride.
The series shows the teenager riding the yellow dragon in the first two episodes. She is willing to face off against her uncle Daemon in order to get his attention.
The older Rhaenyra gave one of the eggs to Aemond.
A dragon is in a pit.
Vhagar and Caraxes are two of the dragons in the series who tower over people. The dragonkeepers lead him out to the children of Rhaenyra and Alicent. He has green scales and a red spine, but he is not yet ready to fly.
Jacaerys Velaryon is learning a new skill.
Jacaerys Velaryon has a young dragon and he is learning how to use the "dracarys" command. They're paying off because of the response by Vermax. The goat is a poor one.
Seasmoke is involved in the conflict.
Princess Rhaenys Targaryen married Corlys Velaryon, also known as the Sea Snake, which gave Seasmoke to the Velaryon family. In the War for the Stepstones, Seasmoke is a key weapon.
The rider is Laenor Velaryon.
Seasmoke is the son of Rhaenys and Corlys and he is the one who saved Daemon in the War for the Stepstones.
The children of Laenor and Rhaenyra are actually fathered by Ser HarWIN Strong.
Meleys is also called a red queen.
As she heads to King's Landing next to Seasmoke and Laenor Velaryon, Meleys is seen for the first time.
Meleys is being used against Alicent and Aegon Targaryen. Her entrance in the ninth episode of Dragonpit is unforgettable.
Rhaenys Targaryen continues to fly Meleys.
Rhaenys is a cousin of King Viserys I Targaryen. She and Corlys think that the king will marry Laena when she's young. He was able to marry Alicent instead of declining.
Rhaenys warns Rhaenyra that she is in a dangerous position because most men don't want a woman in power.
In the ninth episode of House Targaryen, Rhaenys crashed Aegon's coronation with Meleys.
It was supposed to be for Baelon Targaryen.
Also there is Dreamfyre. She was only mentioned in the second episode of the small council meeting. Daemon stole one of her eggs that was supposed to be used for Baelon Targaryen, the baby brother of Rhaenyra.
Helaena will be riding Dreamfyre in the future.
Princess Helaena isn't a major part of "House of the Dragon" yet. "Fire and Blood" by George R.R. Martin states that she will be the one to ride Dreamfyre. The "Dance of Dragons" that tears apart House Targaryen is what Helaena becomes involved in.
Daemon found Vermithor.
One of the riderless dragons that live on Dragonstone is introduced in the finale. It's important for Rhaenyra and Daemon to have dragons that can be destroyed in time for a civil war. Varmithor is still a giant even though he isn't as big as Vhagar.
Daemon is introduced when he wanders into the caves beneath Dragonstone.
Fans who have read "Fire & Blood" will know that Vermithor won't be riding anymore. The person who ends up flying the dragon into battle is from the farthest away place. As the Dance of Dragons kicks off in the future, expect to see more of Vermithor.
The two men clashed with Vhagar.
The new dragon, Arrax, is a smaller dragon than the ones ridden by House Targaryen. In the finale, he dives through rocky terrain to escape Aemond Targaryen and Vhagar.
The larger dragon ignores Aemond and attacks Vhagar, but Arrax ignores his rider and attacks Vhagar. The younger dragon and his rider are killed by Vhagar after he chases him.
At that time, Aemond knew he messed up because Vhagar's violence will cause Rhaenyra to go to war.
Velaryon is on the ride.
King Viserys gave the dragon to Arrax in order to clear the air about him being the son of Ser Harwin Strong. The first time we see the two of them flying together is when Rhaenyra sends them on a diplomatic mission.
Aemond tried to get revenge on Lucerys for cutting his eye out when they were children. Aemond took to the skies with Vhagar because Borros interfered.
It was an accident that led to Vhagar chewing Lucerys and Arrax. Rhaenyra is not going to see it that way. It's dear.
