It's Week 8 of the regular season in the National Football League.

A group of more than 80 writers, editors and TV personality evaluated how teams are stacking up.

The New York Jets and New York Giants are both 2-0 while the Green Bay Packers are 0-1. It makes for an interesting power rankings list.

In addition to our updated rankings, we checked in with NFL Nation reporters across the league and asked them to pick a season- defining stat. These statistics tell an important part of a team's performance.

It's time to get to it.

1. Buffalo Bills (5-1)

Week 7 ranking: 1

The team's early success could be described in a number of ways, but point margin is how the team has been winning. The team leads the league with a plus-95 point margin which is 39 points more than the next closest team. The sixth-hardest strength of schedule hasn't stopped the Bills from finding success. The Bills have won all four of their games against teams that made the playoffs last year.

2. Philadelphia Eagles (6-0)

Week 7 ranking: 2

The Eagles have a turnover differential of plus-12, while the Cowboys have a differential of plus 6. It shows how well the offense has protected the football and how effective the defense has been at generating turnovers. Philadelphia has rushed the ball more than any other city and has not lost a fumbled ball.

3. Kansas City Chiefs (5-2)

Week 7 ranking: 3

There are many good things happening on the offensive side of the ball. The defense has 19 sacks, which is sixth in the league. The team had 31 sacks last year. Chris Jones leads the team with five sacks, but Frank Clark had his best game of the year against the 49ers with 1.5 sacks. The Chiefs are getting a lot of productive pass rushes from their defensive backs and LBs, most notably L'Jarius Sneed and Nick Bolton.

4. New York Giants (6-1)

Week 7 ranking: 5

The Giants have come back four times this season. They won in the second half of the game. Five of New York's six wins have been come from behind. The team is following in the footsteps of the previous coach and believes it can make plays late in the game. Daniel Jones and several other players have referred to it as their "competitive spirit," noting a mental toughness with this group that hadn't been there in the past.

5. Minnesota Vikings (5-1)

Week 7 ranking: 4

Kevin O'Connell stresses the importance of elevated play in key moments of the game, including the moments before halftime when outcomes can be tipped. Through play-calling and clock management, O'Connell helped the Vikings score 59 points in the last four minutes of the first half. It's symbolic of how the Vikings started the season by winning in the margins.

6. Dallas Cowboys (5-2)

Week 7 ranking: 6

The Cowboys have allowed eight touchdown through seven games this season, compared to 19 through seven games in 2020. The only time they allowed more than one touchdown was against the Eagles. They have a league-high 29 sacks and have registered 12 turnovers. Teams can't score against Dallas because scoring matters most.

7. Baltimore Ravens (4-3)

Week 7 ranking: 7

The Ravens and Eagles have held double-digit leads in all of their games this season. The Philadelphia and Baltimore teams are both 4-3. What's the reason? The fourth quarter has been the worst in the league for Baltimore. If it weren't for fourth-quarter meltdowns against the Dolphins, Bills and Giants, the Ravens would be considered one of the best teams in the league.

In regards to Lamar Jackson's contract situation, Rex Ryan weighed in.

8. New York Jets (5-2)

Week 7 ranking: 9

The Jets have the best fourth quarter score at plus-54. They pride themselves on being strongfinishers, and they've backed it up with two come-from-behind victories. In the last four games, they've defeated their opponents by scores of 51-7. There is a secret formula. Defense, situational awareness, and sound coaching are strong. In four of the five games, they faced backups.

9. Cincinnati Bengals (4-3)

Week 7 ranking: 13

The Bills were not in action this week and have a plus-11 touchdown differential. In back-to-back weeks, Cincinnati's offense has found some form, with quarterback Joe Burrow leading the way. Through the first seven weeks of the season, the Cincinnati defense has not surrendered a second-half touchdown, the first time that has happened since 2000. The trend has enabled the Bengals to weather an early-season lull and stay in the mix to win the division for the second year in a row.

10. Miami Dolphins (4-3)

Week 7 ranking: 17

In Week 3, 22 of the 61 pressures the Dolphins have had came against the Bills. If the pressures were there, the middle-of-the-pack sack numbers could be forgiven, but they appear to have been figured out by opponents. Miami allows the fourth-highest completion percentage in the league while opposing quarterbacks get the ball out at the ninth-fastest rate. The Dolphins need to figure out if they're going to make a push for the playoffs in November and December.

11. Tennessee Titans (4-2)

Week 7 ranking: 16

The four-game winning streak was achieved by a margin of 22 points. Even though they have given up more yards than they have gained in all four wins, they have found a way to win even if it is a one score game. Last Sunday against the Colts, it was a 76-yard pick six. Sometimes it's a tipped pass, like when Dylan Cole's fingertips diverted a Carr pass intended for Waller on a failed two-point conversion in the fourth quarter.

12. Los Angeles Rams (3-3)

Week 7 ranking: 11

Matthew Stafford has been protected by nine different offensive linemen this season. The Rams have allowed 22 sacks, which is fifth most in the league. Los Angeles is hoping that the return of center Brian Allen will bring some stability to an offensive line that has had just one player start all seven games. The offensive line's performance is one of the reasons why the Rams' offense has struggled this season.

13. Seattle Seahawks (4-3)

Week 7 ranking: 18

Geno Smith has been the most improved player on the defense, but the run game has been one of the best in the league. He has the fourth-best Total QBR at 66.8, which is indicative of how much he has been more than just the game manager. It's more than 31 points higher than the guy he replaced in Seattle, and it's more than 23 points higher than Smith's Total QBR. Russell Wilson is ranked at 35.2.

Chris Jones, Joe Burrow & Christian McCaffrey ESPN

14. San Francisco 49ers (3-4)

Week 7 ranking: 12

The 49ers are at their best when they take care of the ball and play well on defense. A direct line can be traced from their 12 turnovers to their record. They have one turnover in their three victories. They have 11 losses.

15. Los Angeles Chargers (4-3)

Week 7 ranking: 8

In order to keep opponents out of the end zone, the Bolts invested in their defense over the summer. Similar results have been achieved as a result of the changes. The Bolts have given up an average of 27 points per game. The defense's inefficiencies have been caused by injuries, including the placing of Joey Bosa on injured reserve. If the Bolts want to get to the playoffs for the first time in over a year, they need to figure out a way to come together. Sebastian Joseph-Day said it was a sense of urgentness. The coaches put on a lot of pressure on the players It will get figured out once we do all that.

16. Green Bay Packers (3-4)

Week 7 ranking: 14

The quarterback has not been able to complete passes. In the loss to the Commanders, he averaged just 3.3 air yards on his completions. He had the second-fewest air yards per completion in the league at 4.3. It's impossible to replace Davante Adams, but they also miss the threat of the man.

Ryan Clark explains why the Packers' title hopes are gone.

17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-4)

Week 7 ranking: 10

Through the first seven weeks of the year, the scoring production has fallen off from last year's average of 31.4 points a game. They have only been to the red zone 19 times in 77 drives this season. It was 39 times in the first seven games last year.

18. New England Patriots (3-4)

Week 7 ranking: 15

Jones had five picks and the eight turnovers were the second highest in the league. Since that point, the team has limited mistakes and entered Week 7 with a turnover differential of minus-1. Their season turned around as a result of it, although they backslid with a minus 3 ratio in Monday's loss to the Bears.

19. Atlanta Falcons (3-4)

Week 7 ranking: 19

Whoever it is, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter when the game is played. Arthur Smith will keep running the ball. The Falcons have the 3rd best rushing attack in the league. The focus is on how Atlanta's head coach can control the game and be competitive. They are doing it with a converted receiver, a fifth-round pick, a player who started the year on the practice squad, and a converted defensive back. The strength of Atlanta's ability to shorten games and be productive on the ground will be its strength if it wins the division.

20. Arizona Cardinals (3-4)

Week 7 ranking: 26

In his first game of the season, DeAndre was targeted on almost half of the passes. It showed how important he was to the offense. Without him, the Cards were 0-6, but now they're 1-0 with him. He wasn't seen a lot. The return of the receiver is immediately paying off for the Cards.

21. Washington Commanders (3-4)

Week 7 ranking: 28

Washington is 24th in the NFL in scoring. The number has dropped since Week 3. The Commanders were supposed to get a boost this season with a healthy and upgraded set of receiver. Despite having won two in a row, they are only 3-4. Injuries and an infective interior offensive line have played a part in the struggles on offense. The Commanders need to become more consistent on offense if they want to continue their winning streak.

play

After the benching of Matt Ryan, Louis Riddick believes something is not right with the Colts.

22. Indianapolis Colts (3-3-1)

Week 7 ranking: 20

The Colts are only scoring 16.1 points a game. Sam Ehlinger has replaced Matt Ryan as the quarterback. On Sunday, the Colts' defense didn't allow a touchdown in a game. They have been anemic on offense and that's all they matter. If the likes of Ryan and Jonathan Taylor can't help the offensive line, who can?

23. Las Vegas Raiders (2-4)

Week 7 ranking: 27

Josh Jacobs has averaged 6.4 yards per carry in Las Vegas' last three games. The Raiders have won two of their last three games thanks to his ascendance and the slow starting offense. With the schedule easing up and Jacobs producing like an All-Pro, they now have a chance to go on a run.

The Broncos and the Jags will play at Wembley Stadium in London on October 30 at 9:30 a.m. It is only on Disney's streaming service, Disney+. You can get access to live NFL games, highlights, originals, analysis and more.

24. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5)

Week 7 ranking: 22

TheJaguars' defense had seven sacks in the first two games and people started to wonder if this was going to be a repeat of the17 defense, which led the NFL with 55 sacks that season Nope, that's right. In the last three games, they have posted two. Nine turnovers in the first four games weren't forced because the Jags weren't pressing as much. TheJaguars have lost four in a row because of the lack of pressure.

25. Cleveland Browns (2-5)

Week 7 ranking: 23

In any quarter this season, the Browns have been bad defensively. Cleveland has been at its worst in the last quarter. The fourth-quarter collapses that have put Cleveland's season already on the verge of being ranked 30th in the league in defensive expected points added. In the fourth quarter, the Cleveland defense played better. It could end up being too little, too late.

26. New Orleans Saints (2-5)

Week 7 ranking: 21

The Saints have a minus 10 turnover/takeaway ratio and only have one intercept this year. They have seven turnovers and nine team turnovers which are the worst in the league. The tie game was turned into a hole they couldn't escape in an eventual loss, and it's just one of many games where turnovers define the outcome.

27. Denver Broncos (2-5)

Week 7 ranking: 24

Austin Ekeler and Nick Chubb are the only two players in the league who have scored at least eight touchdown in a season. Despite a defense that has surrendered just eight touchdown all season, the Broncos are 0-7. Jerry Jeudy leads the team in touchdown with two and the running backs have scored two rushing touchdown.

28. Chicago Bears (3-4)
