The strongest contender for most dramatic character in House of the Dragon is Prince Aemond Targaryen.

He's sinister, he's volatile, he has a cool leather eyepatch, and he takes pleasure in menacing the nephews who used to bully him for not having a dragon.

He may have revealed a small clue as to the direction the show is headed by taking things to a whole other level.

What happens with Aemond in the finale?

He takes the drama to another level.

Aemond defeated the old man when he arrived at Storm's End to try and get the support of his mother. He tried to leave but Aemond made a chilling demand.

Aemond lost his left eye in the fight they had back in episode 7 of the show.

In true Aemond fashion, he whips off his eye patch and shows a blue sapphires where his eye used to be.

It's easy to forget the sapphires beneath Aemond's eye patch when there is a dragon fight.

Is it possible that the stone has a deeper meaning?

What does the sapphire mean?

Have you seen the blue eyes of the dragon before? Obviously Aemond's is just a stone, but the similarity he now has to this guy can't be a coincidence.

The Night King is one of the main villains in the show. Although Aemond does not look like him, he does have a striking resemblance to the White Walker.

What does this mean if it's not just an accident? Is there a connection to Aemond and the land beyond the Wall?

I think it's likely not. We don't think it will be that simple. If we had to guess, we would say that Aemond's eye serves two purposes: 1) To emphasize that Aemond is now a cold-hearted monster, capable of terrorising his younger relatives with minimal remorse, and 2) to draw even more attention to the fact that he

Viserys is obsessed with Aegon the Conqueror's dream of a terrible winter, so much so that he accidentally starts a war by making a noise about it on his death bed. In the finale, Rhaenyra mentions the prophecy again, despite her father's warnings.

The idea of a threat beyond the Wall will be a part of House of the Dragon. Is it possible that Aemond is trying to remind us of the icy villains from Game of Throne? Preparing us to see them again might be a way of doing that.

We will have to wait for the second season.
