The messaging app was down on Tuesday.

Around 3:17 a.m., there were problems found. Downdetector.com tracks internet service disruptions.

There were problems with sending and receiving messages by users. At 3:20 a.m., normal service on the messaging service was not restored. There is an hour and a half later.

The internet browser version of the messaging service failed to load. Make sure your computer has an active internet connection according to a prompt on the web.

Meta confirmed that there were problems with the messaging service.

A Meta spokesman told CNBC that they are aware that some people are having trouble sending messages and that they are working to restore the service for everyone.

In countries such as India and Brazil, the messaging service is very popular.

Users from the U.K. to India and Turkey experienced problems.

It is not the first glitch for a platform owned by Meta. In August, Facebook users reported a problem where their feed was flooded with messages from other people that were originally made on celebrity pages.

Tech companies have had issues this year. The search engine was down for a short time in August. In July, there was an issue with the social media site.
