Aaron Judge

The words "New York Yankees" and "inferiority complex" are not words that have been used in the same sentence for a long time. The New York Yankees are the epitome of American exceptionalism, even when it's not a sport that other places play. The Yankees are the most famous team in the world. You had to admit for the longest time that it was deserved, even though they and their fans acted like the only people in the room. The Yankees are the epitome of a throughline in American sports and American culture.

Only now. The Yankees haven't acted like the Yankees, haven't acted like the big bad on the block, and now they are getting kicked when it matters most.

Watching their historical punching bag become a more successful organization may be worse. They lost an ALCS, an ALDS, and anAL Wildcard to the Red Boston. They are behind in the championship count. The past few years of running into an orange and blue painted wall should be enough to convince the Yankees that they have lost their place.

There are a lot of reasons why the Yankees are on the verge of another loss. Management that is bad and timid would be a start. The Yanks have a large payroll, but it's all in the wrong places. Some people didn't want their salaries taken on. They were surprised that Josh Donaldson ran out of gas. Is it possible that the superior pitching in the playoffs would lead to injury to the star player?

The Yankees don't write over their cracks. Why was a young man starting at a position he didn't know much about? Why was he replacing a slappy, glove-only candidate who didn't even have a name?

Why was the rotation after Cole was thrown more than he ever had before, which of course led to physical problems. Is it a Pirates cast off? This bench, what was it?

The Yankees decided on what to do with Judge and Stanton when they were healthy. When was the last time a yankee went on a world tour against Judge because they wouldn't pay him? The Yankees, with their modern, now-fake cathedral to themselves of a ballpark and their own network, would have paid Judge less than anyone else. He will probably do it somewhere else now that he will make more than everyone else. The Yankees try to get a discount. The discounts are supposed to be the territory of the people. The checks are cut by the Bombers.

Beyond the club, there's an inferiority complex. The bleacher creatures have moaned about the Astros and have been kicked to the curb twice. The yankees got caught licking each other. They complain that the Astros were better at it than they were. Either they are, or they are not, and that means the Yankees are deficient.

When the Yankees hit the skids in the middle of the season, they were seen as a mirage and would never be able to compete with the Astros. They are still screaming after they proved they can't run with the Astros. Shouldn't those around the team be happy if the Yankees weren't good enough? It shouldn't have been a shock. They should not get it either way.

The Yankees act like the little guy, and it's just so weird. They complain about the Astros for a long time. They are supposed to be the bad guys in the world. They come in second or worse in the bidding. Half a roster is what it's supposed to be. To not have a plan to deal with that.

While winning 99 games in the toughest division, the Yankees acted like they didn't have a chance at the title. They didn't. The Yankees don't back down. They don't accept. They don't think they're going to win.

They got what they got from this version.
