Two people are going over a cliff in the first seven weeks of the new season. The weak links being carried by their defenses are the anemic offenses of the 3-4 Bucs and 3-4 Packers. The Bucs were scoring 31.4 points per game at this time. Brady is 45 years old and his offense has plummeted to 27th in the league in scoring. The Packers were a top 10 scoring offense in the year 2021.
The team failed to score a touchdown for the second week in a row. The Bucs only scored three points in the game. Mike Evans said that his clumsiness sucked the life out of the team after he dropped a moonball from Brady. This didn't start against Carolina.
Brady was defeated by P.J. Walker. Being defeated by an XFL Legend is not as bad as it could be. Don't look in the same direction. The XFL had a player named Walker. Taylor Heinicke, an XFL backup who never saw the field and the third-best quarterback on the team behind Sam Howell, was the one who beat Rodgers.
The Commanders defeated Rodgers in a game. The situation isn't good. Rodgers has not thrown more than two touchdown passes in a game this season and he has not had a 300-yard game. Green Bay is on pace to finish without a 1000-yard receiver for the first time in over a year because Rodgers' top receivers are half his age and struggling to get on the same page with their quarterback.
It had been a long time since Brady and Rodgers played together. They have become caretakers of offensive attacks that need a Life Alert. Brady and Rodgers don't look terrible. Patrick Mahomes has thrown 20 touchdown passes on his own. The passing plays over 40-yards have disappeared.
His touchdown rate is the lowest of his career. Both Brady and Rodgers passed the ball off a cliff. Rodgers is a league leader in completions thrown behind the line of scrimmage, but his passing troubles were more predictable. Brady does not have Gronk and O.J. Howard but he does have Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
Although neither of the quarterbacks is playing as well as Russell Wilson, they are not as sad. Russ is content even though he is weird.
Brady is off the field and it is leaking onto the field. He has been granted many practices off and has destroyed several tablets. He is 45 years old and on his Terrible 2s. Time isn't running out yet. Nine games remain. It wouldn't be out of place for these two savvy elders to put in a strong second half. The Packers should make a move at the trade deadline. It took a long time for the two of them to get in sync.
If we had learned not to close the casket on Rodgers or Brady before the death certificate is official, we would have done that by now. If you want to poke them, use a stick. Brady was supposed to be done in by Jimmy G a decade ago.
It is not over until they are eliminated from the playoffs. Brady has made the playoffs every year he has been a starter. We may get our first Brady-Rodgers free postseason since 2008.
The arrangement of their division would make it unlikely that the Bucs won't win the division, but Atlanta's lackluster roster shouldn't be tied with them for the division lead. Rodgers missed the playoffs in both of the last two years. He is probably lucky he didn't go to Denver.
Rodgers and Brady are not falling over. Given the composition of their rosters, this season was championship or bust. Brady and Rodgers are not like the Super Bowl contender they were in their primes.
