The budget security camera from Wyze has been updated. The Wyze cam v3 pro adds 2K resolution and on-device artificial intelligence for faster processing of smart alert for person detection The Wyze Pro camera has a faster processor, an improved speaker and microphone, and a better wi-fi connection than the Wyze cam V3 It doesn't work over 2.5 GHz networks.
The feature is called Smart Focus. Smart Focus adds a smaller view of the livestream while the main view focuses on the person detected, giving you more information in a single glance.
The Wyze Cam V3 Pro is a wired, outdoor camera that is powered by a 5V2A power transformer. If you're going to plug it into an outdoor outlet, you'll need to purchase the outdoor power adaptor. Wyze claims to deliver 20 and 15 frames per second in the day and night. The camera has an onboard spotlight and sirens, as well as Wyze's excellent 4 mp sensor for night vision.
The camera has a 116 degree field of view, 8x digital zoom, and is capable of recording up to 24 hours per day. The Wyze app has schedules and automations, and it supports integrations with Amazon'sAlexa and the Google Assistant.
The higher resolution of the Wyze cam v3 and the local processing of person detection events are the main reasons to spend the extra money. Wyze ended its partnership with Xnor.ai in January 2020 due to Apple buying it.
Wyze has a plan to enable person detection on its camera, but it is not clear if you should subscribe to it. You have to be alert on the other Wyze cameras. We contacted Wyze to confirm. Person detection can be added for free with a name-your-own price plan. You only get 12 seconds of video recording with a five minute cool down.
