Apple has shied away from bright colors. Gadgets with the Apple logo are usually a shade of gray, and even those with a wider variety of colors are subdued.

Apple has mostly reserved the pink color for its iPod range of products. The iPhones that got the pink treatment were not very pink.

It was a long time ago that Apple introduced the Rose Gold color for their phones, and it wasn't the first one.

It's the same thing for the iPad. Even though you can get the latest iPad Air in pink, it barely looks pink in Apple's own images. It's like taking the color pink and draining the fun out of it.

Now is the time for this to end. The colors of the new iPad are more vibrant and vivid than ever before, and it will be on sale on October 26.

Product images are one thing, but Apple sent me a pink iPad to play with, and I can attest that it is truly, properly, triumphantly pink. Look at it.

There is a matching cover for it. It is close enough that it does not appear to be as pink as the device itself.

Is this a sign that Apple will give us a hot pink phone next year? It shows the company is interested in the possibility. You can hide your phone behind the pink iPad if you want to.
